FAQ – Costume Rental & Sales: Common Questions
Q: I want to rent a costume – how should I proceed?
A: Costumes are usually tried on without an appointment. You can visit us well in advance to choose your costume, which will then be ready for pickup 1–2 days before use. Alternatively, you can visit about 2 days before your event to pick up the costume immediately, but please allow some time for preparation.
Q: Can I rent a costume without visiting in person?
A: We recommend trying on costumes in person, as most are unique pieces with variations in size, shape, and color. If visiting is not possible, we can select a costume for you based on the measurements you provide.
Q: I only found a few pictures on your website – do you have more costumes?
A: Many more photos are available in our photo gallery. With over 40,000 costumes, it’s impossible to photograph them all.
Q: Can I rent individual costume pieces?
A: Yes, individual items like handbags or canes can be rented. The minimum rental fee is CHF 20.
Q: Do I need to clean the costume myself?
A: No, you can return the costume as is. We clean all garments in-house using our chemical cleaning, ozone cabinet, or laundry services.
Q: How much does it cost to rent a costume?
A: Complete costumes start at CHF 66. A police costume costs CHF 166, and a baroque costume is CHF 188.
Q: How is the rental price calculated?
A: Each costume belongs to a price category. According to the conditions, the price is calculated based on the usage days. Only days when the costume is worn are charged; delivery days before and after usage are usually not included (typically 2 working days).
Q: When and how can I pay?
A: You can pay in cash, with postcard, or with a debit card when picking up the costume. For mailed rental items, an invoice is included, but prepayment may be required. For sales items, payments via credit card and PayPal are available in our online shop.
Q: Do you deliver costumes to homes?
A: We can ship your rental costume via Priority Mail to a Swiss address. The basic shipping fee is CHF 15 plus CHF 4 per costume. Online shop shipping conditions are displayed in the shopping cart. Unfortunately, we cannot ship rental or sales items abroad.
Q: I need costumes for a theater production – are there special prices?
A: Amateur theater groups staging a public performance and providing a flyer or program booklet can benefit from a theater discount starting from CHF 200 in rental fees. Open-air performances are excluded.
Q: Is it possible to ship rental items abroad?
A: Unfortunately, no. This is due to the significant administrative effort required.
